Thoughts of a Random Gamer

This weekend has been a pleasant exercise in relaxation.  For the first time in quite a while, I was able to completely unplug from the grid, with the exception of my twitter, and just relax.  What I found myself enjoying most was the high definition gifts that Santa left for me.  Among the most notable was watching both of this weekends conference finals NFL games in high def as part of our new HD cable package.  I couldn’t imagine a better use of the extra ten dollars a month.

Going along with the high definition theme is the trip that my wife and I took to the now completely bankrupt Circuit City.  We were able to snag both The Dark Knight – Special Edition and Casino Royal, at the beautiful discount of 20% off!  I was thrilled to get home and check out Batman kick ass in even a higher definition then I had seen in the theater.  Too bad it didn’t make Christian Bale’s Batman voice any less annoying…

Lastly, my wife and I were able to get to the theater and check out the new film Paul Blart: Mall Cop.  Never did I believe that Kevin James had leading man skills, let alone the potential to be a bit of a bad ass, but now I am totally a believer!  Check out the movie for yourself and see if you agree.  Hopefully I will have time to draft up a review soon.

This week we will be hearing from all of the usual team, along with a new contributor, Ammonator.  His first piece will be covering first impressions of the Windows 7 Beta release.  I know that I am really looking forward to that.  As for the rest of the team, you can expect to hopefully see PriestBeast’s review of Far Cry 2 as well as my review of Prince of Persia.  Everyone else will remain a mystery for now, so stay tuned.  It is going to be a big week, so I hope you are ready!
