Dammit Game of the Week: Commander Keen
By Grundy’s request, this week’s Dammit Game of the Week is Commander Keen Flash. This was one of his favorite games as a kid. According to him, and I quote, “It is magic on a computer screen. I must have beaten it 20 times.” I really can’t comment, as the flash game is the first time I’ve played it. The story according to Wikipedia is:
Billy Blaze is an eight-year-old boy genius who has constructed a spaceship in his backyard from old soup cans and other household objects, called The Bean-with-Bacon Megarocket. When his parents are out and the babysitter falls asleep, he dons his brother’s Packers helmet and becomes Commander Keen, Defender of Earth.
How to play
You have to find your way to the exit. Sometimes an item like a keycard or other things will be needed to open the door. Use the arrow keys to move left and right. Jump by pressing the up arrow key. After picking up the red gun, you can shoot by pressing the down arrow.
Give it a try to see if Grundy’s spot on about it being “magic on a computer screen,” or if he’s full of crap.
