The gaming feudal system was invented by elitist retards and is used both ways. There are plenty of console gamers claiming the opposite - that a game wasn't as good as it should've been, because the PC version interfered with development. Plenty of PS3 gamers used that argument when UT3 was released.

As for comparing consoles to the average home computer... well doh, of course consoles are more powerful. The average home computer is used for browsing the internet and typing word documents. Now compare it to the average gaming PC, which is what you should've been doing from the start, ( http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey if you need help finding accurate stats) and you'll see that the average gaming PC is actually much more powerful than Xbox360 and PS3 consoles. The most common PC is a 2.6GHz dual core Intel, 2+ GB RAM and a Geforce 8800GT(X) card. That's plenty of power to run Crysis in High detail, which is something no modern console can do.

The hardware argument was obviously constructed out of a lot of thin air, far-fetched generalizations and plenty of duct tape. I've had my PC for nearly 18 months now and it can run any recent game, maxed out, in 1680x1050 (higher than nearly every console game is rendered at) with anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering active and texture filtering forced to High Quality. Excluding shitty ports (GTA 4), obviously. I don't expect to be upgrading anything about my PC until next year, or the year after that - and I'll be playing high-max quality all the way. Comparatively, consoles come in at Low-Medium quality, in lower resolution. So $500 per year/6 months? That's like buying the PS3 80GB after purchasing the 40GB and 60GB versions, just because you can. Try $500 per 3-4 years, for max-detail gaming glory... a price difference you'll have earned back by then from purchasing games at much lower prices.

Your controls argument is... odd. I guess you suck at mouse + keyboard gaming... shit happens. A couple of younger cousins of mine felt the same way 3 years ago, they could barely take on Novice bots in UT (while in god mode). Now they've thrown away their controllers and are dedicated mouse & keyboard players. Why? Because they learned to use the mouse & keyboard in class - and it gradually became more familiar. Then once they tried gaming with it again, it became blatantly obvious how much superior mouse + keyboard controls are to controllers in just about every kind of game there is. To most people new to gaming, the mouse and keyboard combination will be easier to pick up on, because they already know how a mouse or a keyboard works.

PC games aren't as expensive as console games, because publishers determine the game price, not the console developers/dictators (Microsoft/Nintendo/Sony). In terms of development cost, PC games are significantly more expensive than their console counterparts. Both due to longer development times (PC games, especially PC-exclusives, are generally more complex) but also due to much more extensive testing procedures (hardware variations require testing during development to maintain compatibility).

As for the community argument. There are extreme examples to be found in both crowds. There are PC gamers who starved to death while playing, but there are also console gamers who killed their parents over having their console taken away. I would say the PC community has the advantage of being more mature as a whole. Xbox Live often feels like one giant game of Counter Strike (one kiddie/whiner after another).

So did you ever here about the Columbine High School shootings? Yeah, those kids were heavy into DOOM and computer shooters and many adults blame the mental illnesses of the boys on the influence of COMPUTER gaming. Obviously, computer or console has nothing to do with it. It's the person playing them. I guess that invalidates both arguments above, eh?

Umm if you ONLY bought RAM once every two years... your computer wouldn't run shit on medium settings. You need a new graphics card every two years plus a new motherboard once every five AT LEAST. If you can find a computer from a decade ago that runs games from today purely off RAM upgrades I will be flabbergasted. So... YOUR argument doesn't make any sense.

* "Just wait a few years and there will be console emulators to play console games.Just look at Psx.Hence Pc gamers get more value for their games."

It is 2009 right now, and xbox came out at the end of 2001, still no working emulator for xbox. Ps2 was released during 2000, yet most ps2 games are not playable at full speed using the current emulators. Besides using keyboard and mouse for games designed to use a controler...you take away a significant amount of game quality that way.

* "Average lifespan of a pc game is also way longer than consoles"
So what? I am not a cheapskate, I want quality over quantity.

* Response to "http://www.mmocrunch.com/2009/02/26/what-i-hate-about-console-gaming/":

You say there: "We also get many of your games". That is such a lie. The vast majority of all great console games are NEVER converted to pc. The variation of "new" games that a pc offers is way less than consoles offer.

*Finally, there is so much talking about "cost". Only "poor" people are not able to afford both a decent computer and new generation consoles. So yeah if you are poor, then focus on your computer >.>. For the rest of us, it is a matter of the games themeselves.

Oh you mean the same PC gamers that stab people for selling their sword that they allowed the person to borrow, the kid that jumped out a 20-story window wanting to be with his world of warcraft buddies, the same boy who was kidnapped by someone else because they wanted their account on some computer game? Yeah, you only hear about the violence that comes from console gamers but by far....I think computer gamers are just as stupid as their counterparts at the console gaming. Also, those who do the pc gaming violence are those older then those who do the console violence.

Wow at upgrading your computer every year for video cards, sound cards, motherboards. Most people only need to buy 1 soundcard that will last them 5 years and a lot of people use onboard sound for motherboards anyways(taken from steam statistics). Plus you need to realize the investment is made to the PC. its not only for games, but other uses on the computer such as being faster, better sound/pixel quality, etc.

I've been playing PC games since the monochrome/floppy disk days and console games since the days of NES and arcades back in the old days. I'm avoiding the current generation of consoles especially the XBOX for good reason.

- First of all, crying about hardware doesn't make sense. My computer is more than 1 year old and I still run almost every recent game in high settings. People crying about hardware are too lazy to learn which hardware to get and remain in budget and not overspend. All my old computers lasted 3 years before I upgraded, and that's because I upgraded willingly, not because the computer died or is unable to run any game.
And also you don't have to uninstall all your programs to install one game. You have any idea what size the standard typical harddisk is now?

"How the hell in the world do you use a mouse and keyboard to play a video game?"

- This comment is just useless and plain funny.
Anyway, Joypads and joysticks can be used to play games on the PC since like the old DOS era. Console ports on PC ran almost very much better on joypads than the keyboard. Your third party peripheral statement doesn't make sense. Driving games can also be played with the joypads and the driving wheels and they always felt better. Same thing with most other PC games(not console ports) that allows the optional use of joypads.

- About the gamers paragraph, I advise you to stay off reading WoW/MMO EXTREME addiction related articles and stereotype ALL PC gamers. Even so in WoW, there're many married couples playing, the people with lives, as you so call it, playing casually. Assuming ALL console gamers are people with great lives is kinda ..............................

If someone invents a time machine, go back in time, play the good old PC games and the console game. Most games now with the exception of some, reeks of milking $$, there's nothing much unique, there's nothing artistic, everything now is about $$. Gone are the days of true gaming!
