Release of the Week: Halo Wars
I have always been a devout PC gamer, especially when it comes to shooters. Sure, I own consoles and I am no stranger to blasting terrorists, Nazis and aliens on my TV. But when it comes down to it I feel a lot more comfortable with a mouse and keyboard then a clumsy analog stick.
That being said, I can really respect what Halo did for gaming. Golden Eye showed us that shooters were possible with a controller, Halo made us forget what else is out there. Throughout the next two iterations the series continued to set the bar, creating a community of gamers unlike any other on the console platform.
Microsoft Game Studios is attempting to use the Halo universe in order to bring another classically PC genre onto the Xbox 360. Halo Wars attempts to bring Real Time Strategy fun to console gamers everywhere! The game looks good and should give some insight onto the history of the United Nations Space Command war against the covenant. As for whether or not Halo Wars will revolutionize real time strategy on the console… I wouldn’t count on it. Halo Wars comes out tomorrow exclusively for the Xbox 360.
