Upcoming: Red Ring of Death Edition
Over the weekend I had the outstanding opportunity to attend a church retreat at the same location that I was married. It was the return to a place that has been the home of many awesome memories for me. This trip was no exception. I was able to reunite with long-lost friends, while still taking part is a religious experience, the likes of which I hadn’t participated in for years. Sadly the great events of this weekend were also marred by a tragic event… the death of my Xbox 360.
As many of you know, there are numerous signs of the impending death of an Xbox 360. Among the most prevalent of the problems include sluggishness while trying to navigate from within the NXE, slow or erroneous load times on games being played off of a disk, and most obviously, freezing from within games being played off of the hard drive. My Xbox 360 Elite had been exhibiting all of these issues as of late, but I refused to believe that the dreaded “red ring of death” would dare pay me another visit.
All of my hopes aside, my wife contacted me at the campgrounds last night to break the bad news. While she was in the middle of an intense game of Fallout 3, my 360 froze. After rebooting the console, she became witness to my second dead Xbox 360. I attempted to revive the console when I got home, but it was no use. It was gone…
So with a heavy heart I will be making another call to my buddy Max over at 1-800-4-MY-XBOX, sometime in the next hour or so, but I wanted to keep you posted at to the situation as it sits right now. It looks like I will be focusing on my Wii and PlayStation 3 for a while. That is not a bad thing though, because both consoles seem to have a ton to offer in the upcoming months.
Fortunately, the rest of the team has lots of material waiting, so lets take a look at what is on the way. We have another stellar, albeit portable release for our release of the week, followed by more awesome observations from PriestBeast. Midway through the week we will be hearing from AndyGoes, with his thoughts on Resident Evil 5 as well as Greedy Raven’s review of Dawn of War 2. Closing out the week will be my review of Killzone 3 and Reluctant Gamer’s look into the hidden world of game tournaments.
Things will be busy, so I am glad you are here to tune in. Have a great week!
